In my last post, I wrote about some of the ways you can gain more time in your day to focus on important goals in your life, whether it’s related to work, family, or social activities. If you missed it, you can read it here.
One method I covered was to use the services of a Professional Wordsmith to assist you with tasks so you gain time to focus on other things. Everyone’s needs differ but you can achieve more by working smarter, not just harder. Here’s an example to clarify what I mean.
You run a business, whether it’s solely from home; or you’re mobile and go where needed; or you may have a store or office. If you don’t get enough customers, you can’t make any real money. You have two choices: put more hours in OR outsource certain tasks to help maximise the amount of time you personally have to put in.
One critical component of any business is marketing/advertising. Having a website is your online version of a store or office. You need people to be aware that you exist. This is where a Wordsmith will help you.
Let’s call this person John (to make it easier to explain). John can write all the content for your website. This will include a number of elements that you would plan in advance. These four pages are the absolute minimum you need.
*An about you page explaining who you are as a person and reasons why the reader should use your services.
*A page that lists what you offer in terms of goods and/or services. John can help with this decision.
*Testimonials from happy clients because they increase your credibility. Some people won’t use a service if there are no reviews or testimonials, regardless of how long you have been in business.
*A page with your contact details so potential clients can ask questions, request a quote, or make a booking.
Once your site is filled with information, John can help with the marketing/advertising because the more people who know about you, the more business you’ll attract.
Marketing can include: links to your social media pages LinkedIn should be your first priority as it’s a business site with a high level of credibility. Set up a business profile on Facebook and maintain a presence there as well. Naturally you will link your social media pages back to your site as well.
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) will help boost your Google ranking and you may consider paying for Google ads. Ask John to write a daily post about your business and place them everywhere you can, always with links back to your home base; namely your website.
If you did all of this yourself, assuming you have the skills, it would drain your precious time. Having John do everything reduces your work load and gives you extra time that can be better spent in your job, with your family, or socialising with friends.
Now I’ll change John’s name and make it Laurence because that’s me. I’m a Professional Wordsmith with 13 years’ experience and I’m sure I can save you time, improve your quality of life, and decrease the stress.
